Students at the Hull FC College are benefitting from online tuition during the ongoing national lockdown.

Part of the Hull FC Centre of Excellence, teachers and coaches at the colleges are continuing to set students academic tasks and fun challenges while students learn from home, ensuring they are not missing out on their educational needs.

Top of the class on and off the field, the Centre of Excellence recorded its best ever student grades in 2020, whilst the Development Squad claimed the National Championship.

The Centre of Excellence offers an unrivalled rugby league programme combining coaching, development and education to give young players and students the very best opportunity to progress into professional sport – both in playing and off field roles.

It provides young rugby league players or budding sports professionals a tailor-made route for a career in sport, removing all the traditional limitations of other providers as well as providing first-hand experience in a professional club.

Speaking to hullfc.com, Head of Education Ryan Langton said: “Returning into lockdown in the new year is something we had prepared extensively for, having looked at last lockdowns high and lows and implementing a plan which could see us deliver a high quality inclusive education offer online.

“The learners have been great; n a time where it is easy to fade away and let education fall to the back of their priorities, we have had a really engaged group who are becoming very keen to return to the classroom.

“Some really positive stories have come from this academic year with Davy Litten progressing into an academy contract and a call up to first-team training, as well as a large group of learners looking to progress onto University.”

He added: “Looking to the future and with recruitment in full swing, places for the next academic year are becoming limited, with already a large group of our current students registering their interest to continue studying with us in 2021/22.

“We are very excited about some new pathways we are looking to provide for September, continuing to meet the individual needs of all of our learners.”
