‘Active Families’ Project To Support Local Vulnerable Families

Community Foundation to support vulnerable families through new project

Community News

The Hull FC Community Foundation will provide education and wellbeing support to local vulnerable families through their ‘Active Families’ project.

This work has been made possible by an award from People’s Postcode Trust, a grant giving charity funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

The ‘Active Families’ project will offer a weekly programme of education and wellbeing support sessions delivered from the Community Hub at the KCOM Stadium for vulnerable families on low incomes living within the highly deprived areas of West Hull, including Anlaby Road and Hessle Road.

The project will include activities for the whole family, as well as offering targeted, bespoke support individually for parents with an objective to help them move away from poverty.

Parents will have the opportunity to complete accredited work readiness programmes delivered by trained instructors which include access to accredited qualifications and work experience with local employers.

They will also be able to access interventions which promote mental resilience and support general life skills e.g. cooking on a budget and digital skills.

‘Active Families’ will offer sport and physical activity sessions on weekends which promote improved cohesion and relationships between family members.

The project will get underway once current government lockdown restrictions have been lifted.
