Hull FC are pleased to announce the signing of rising England star Jude Ferreira on a three-year deal.

The athletic 19-year-old centre has been one of the shining lights in the club’s academy and reserve pathways, featuring regularly for both teams in recent seasons.

The former West Hull junior had enjoyed a great start to the season before it was curtailed due to Coronavirus, scoring three tries in two games for the academy, as well as grabbing Hull FC reserves first try of the season in a win over Bradford Bulls.

Ferreira has also followed in the recent footsteps of the likes of Cameron Scott, Ben McNamara and Jack Brown in being selected for the England Youth and England Academy squads and was due to go on tour to Australia this year before it was postponed.

Speaking to hullfc.com, Ferreira said: “It has always been a dream of mine to sign for Hull FC, the team I have supported as a boy.

“I’m eager to grasp the opportunity and show what I am about and what I can do, but I know from the last few months it is a really big step up and a challenge I’m looking forward to.

“I’ve been involved with England and experienced playing alongside first-team players in the reserves, but I’d love to kick on now and try and establish with some matches at Hull FC if I can earn the opportunity.”

Ferreira’s progression was recently rewarded with the chance to train with the first-team squad following their return after Covid lockdown and the cancellation of the academy season.

It is an opportunity he has relished, in particular training alongside star first-team centres Carlos Tuimavave and Josh Griffin.

Ferreira said: “I’d love to take over from Carlos or Griff one day, they’re two players I really look up to.

“They’re really at the top of their game at the minute so just to train alongside them whilst they’re doing that and learn from them has been a great experience.

“It has been a surreal experience, training alongside people I have looked up to since being a child, like Gaz Ellis.

“It has been challenging, but I have really enjoyed it. The hard work has made it a bit easier for me now as I really understand what it is going to take to be a Super League player and you will only get out what you’re willing to put in.

“It is hard work and a big step up, but I am really enjoying it and can’t wait to start again next season.”
