Hull FC’s Centre of Excellence Development Squad have been crowned winners of the 2019/20 College League Premier Division.
With the league postponed in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Black & White side have now officially been crowned league winners having been sat at the top of the table, impressively winning 10 out of 11 games played.
Coached by Hull FC Foundation coaches Connor Bower, Ryan Langton, Kieran Smith and Hull FC Academy coach Rob Wilson, the side’s head coach, they began the campaign with an entertaining 34-28 win over Leeds City College in their opening match at Featherstone’s Millennium Stadium, and never looked back.
It would be mid-December before the squad first tasted defeat, going down 23-16 to Furness College, however the side had already gone on a six game unbeaten run and sat comfortably at the top of the table.
Winning game after game, taking on sides including those representing Salford Red Devils and Huddersfield Giants, as well as colleges including Leeds City College and Wakefield College, the side is made up of players currently attending the Hull FC Centre of Excellence education programme, who yesterday were celebrating some impressive results on Results Day.
Boasting the best attack in the league, scoring 344 points and averaging 32 points scored per game, FC were the team to beat throughout the campaign.
