Hull FC’s main sponsors Atropa Pharmacy are doing their bit on the front-line during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Supporters will recognise Atropa from the front of our 2020 jerseys – a forward thinking online pharmacy that provides prescription delivery services to patients all across the UK from their base in Hull, as well also offering a range of personal clinical services such as travel vaccinations and private blood tests.

Established in 2013, Atropa Pharmacy have quickly grown from a local pharmacy to a national provider and are one of the fastest growing businesses in a region that already boasts strong a medical and pharmaceutical sector.

And Atropa are now putting their skills and assets to use by helping support vulnerable patients with prescription deliveries during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking to hullfc.com, Company Director Bryn Smales said: “During the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a massive increase in the demand for pharmaceutical delivery services, especially with people self-isolating and shielding at home.

“We’ve got extra staff in at the moment, one who is solely looking after our app and completing their prescriptions, while we have several drivers out and about around the region delivering to those who can’t get out to collect their own prescriptions.”

Explaining the precautions put in place by his staff, Bryn explained: “We’re pretty well drilled on the health and saftey measures already – we have to wash our hands regularly and use hand sanitizer in this industry anyway.

“But all members of staff get their temperatures checked every time they enter the building too, while our drivers are segregated to just one area of the building so they’re in contact with as little members of staff as possible. But they wear face-masks, gloves and aprons where needed too.”

And it’s not just in Hull and the East Riding that Atropa are delivering too.

“A lot of our new customers are from out of town now too – we’re delivering about 30 packages in Cheshire, as well as up towards Newcastle so you can see there is a clear increase in demand. But our customers seem to be pretty thankful when we arrive.

“Our drivers are using the new Hull FC branded delivery car too – we can’t wait to get some players out and about in it when all this is over too!

Bryn explained that Atropa are just a small piece in the puzzle keeping the country’s health service running smoothly.

“The NHS has plenty of cogs and we’re just one of them playing our part, alongside all the doctors and nurses and everybody else. Everybody involved is doing a great job with everyone working harmoniously to get us through this.”
