Hull FC Under 23s
Hull FC were one of the pioneering clubs in the creation of the Under 23s competition in 2016 to reintroduce reserve grade at an elite level.
‘A’ Team or reserve grade returned to Rugby League in 2016 in the form of the Under 23s competition.
Hull FC joined seven other teams in creating the grade with the backing of the RFL.
The Under 23s has helped a number of Hull FC’s promising young players to play high-standard rugby with the club.
It has been noted in helping the progression of players such as Callum Lancaster, Jansin Turgut and Jez Litten.
First-team assistant coach Richard Horne was placed in-charge of the Under 23s before the start of the 2016 campaign.
This year’s reserve competition involves the following teams:
Dewsbury Rams, Featherstone Rovers, Halifax, Hull FC, St Helens, Wakefield, Warrington Wolves, Wigan Warriors
The structure of the competition is informal with the view to a typical league format in 2017 with a number of other Super League and Championship clubs expressing interest in joining the Under 23s.
