Academy Squad To Face Hull KR In Friendly

Danny Wilson has named a 24-man squad for the Hull FC Academy's friendly meeting with Hull Kingston Rovers Academy.

Danny Wilson has named a 24-man squad for the Hull FC Academy’s friendly meeting with Hull Kingston Rovers Academy at Bishop Burton College tomorrow (1.00pm kick-off).

Although it is a friendly match, tomorrow’s game will be the first meeting between the Hull FC and Hull KR academy teams since 2015.

The Black & Whites’ academy will begin their 2020 campaign at home to Bradford Bulls on Saturday 29th February, and tomorrow’s friendly will be the first hit out of the year to take preparations up to the next level.

Jacob Hookem is named in the 24-man squad, following his try-scoring debut for the senior squad in a pre-season friendly against Halifax.

Halfback Ben McNamara also featured for the senior squad in a pre-season friendly recently, and he too will play a part in tomorrow’s meeting with the Robins’ academy.

Meanwhile, there’s a cause for celebration for the Hull FC Sports College. Four students have been selected to feature in tomorrow’s friendly; Jack Wallis, Davy Litten, Connor Gilbey and Harry Trulson.

The full 24-man squad to face Hull KR’s academy is as follows:

Harvey Barron
Jack Brunt
Aidan Burrell
George Cochran
Will Cohen
James Driver
Jude Ferreira
Alex Gibson
Connor Gilbey
Jacob Hookem
Tom Jackson
Davy Litten

Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s match, Academy Director of Rugby Development Danny Wilson said: “We still have a while to go until the start of the season, so we are about smack bang in the middle of our pre-season campaign.

“The players usually have to wait a long time in the year to get out on the field for some game time, so it’s quite refreshing for them to get out early on.

“I think it makes it that little bit more special that they will be playing against their nearest rivals, but it will be a chance for the players to showcase what they have been working on since the end of last season in October.”
