The Hull FC Development Academy continued their winning run at the start of the College Rugby League Premier Division season with a comfortable victory over Furness Raiders on Wednesday.
The Black & White side, in partnership with Bishop Burton College, ran out 20-12 winners making it four wins on the bounce and remaining undefeated in the 2019/20 campaign.
The hosts led 14 – 0 at half time thanks to tries from Harvey Barron and Jackson Davies-Barker with Jacob Hookem adding two conversions and a penalty goal.
Furness Raiders started the second half strong though and were rewarded with scores from Elliot Bibby to which Ethan Bickerdyke added both conversions meaning the score was reduced to 14 – 12.
Ryan Dearing scored the game clinching try for the hosts with nine minutes remaining to which Jacob Hookem added his fourth goal of the evening.
Head Coach Rob Wilson commented after the game: “There were two very impressive sides on show this evening. The win is important but the most pleasing aspect for me is the attitude and effort from the players in this early stage of the season.
“Some of the college players are really putting in some strong performances and have the potential to play at a higher level if they keep working hard.”
