Lee Radford gave his post-match thoughts following today’s disappointing defeat at Anfield in the Dacia Magic Weekend.
Hull went down 55-2 to an impressive looking Huddersfield side, who scored ten tries in the contest.
Radford kept it short and sweet in his post-match press conference, but starting by admitting the poor start to the game “set the tone”.
“I think the starting period of the game set the tone. We give away three seven tackle sets and five big errors in the first-half.
“I spoke yesterday about us showing some real consistency, but it seems the only thing we’re consistent at this this season is being inconsistent. That has got to change in the second-half of the season.
“If I knew how to stop us putting in those types of performances, we wouldn’t be putting them in.”
Despite the result, Radford believes his side have impressed in training ahead of the game, adding: “If you’d have told me today that we’d have won by the same scoreline, I wouldn’t have been surprised as we’ve been outstanding in training this week, but you don’t win anything at County Road. Our training is very consistent but once you’re on the pitch, it’s all up to you and it’s a different environment.
“The result puts us back in a frustrating place again. I’ve no doubt we’ll respond in the Challenge Cup on Thursday because we do seem to respond to these heavy defeats, but tossing them performance out of your kit bag is not something we want to see.”
