Lane Hoping for Good Friday Repeat

Jordan Lane wants to repeat the performance the Black & Whites put in on Good Friday against the Robins last season, at the KCOM Stadium this Friday.

The Black & Whites ran out 30-22 winners over Hull KR in the Good Friday clash at KCOM Craven Park last season, playing 70 minutes of the game with 12 men!

The match was only Lane’s fourth for the club after breaking onto the scene at the start of last season, and the back-rower says a similar performance from his side this year is what he is aiming for.

Speaking to hullfc.com, Lane said: “We’re determined to repeat the same result we got on Good Friday last year.

“They’re a notoriously tough opposition in these matches, regardless of their recent form, but anything similar to last season and we’ll be pleased as a squad.”

On Friday’s fixture, Lane added: “The atmosphere on Friday is going to be electric - you can already feel that buzz beginning to build at the promos we’ve been doing around the city this week.

“When the KCOM is packed, which it sounds like it is going to be, it’s a great arena to play in. Obviously our away form has been stronger than our home this season but there’s no way that’s going to keep people away from a game as big as this. We know we can put that right this week if we play like we have in the last two games.”

Lane added that the dramatic victory against Catalans over the weekend has added an extra spring to the step of the squad during Derby Week.

“It was a great game to be a part of - we left it right down to the wire but obviously Sneyd came up trumps with his efforts in those last few minutes. It’s such a tough place to go so that win has certainly put a little extra spring in our step this week.

“Alongside the Wigan game, it’s probably the most dramatic game I’ve been involved with so far during my time with the club.”

Lane also explained his delight for young teammates Jack Brown and Connor Wynne, who both scored in the win.

“Being close with Jack (Brown) and Connor (Wynne), I was delighted for them both. For both of them to get a try was a really special moment. They both put in really special performance and hopefully they can both build on what they’ve shown so far.”
