Lee Radford says his side’s missed try-scoring opportunities cost his side a victory against Castleford Tigers.
The Black & Whites opened their home Betfred Super League campaign with a hard-fought battle against the West Yorkshire side, but ultimately went down 26-18 at the KCOM Stadium.
Hull had tries from Jake Connor, Joe Westerman and Jordan Lane, but also had severeal opportunities chalked off by the video referee.
Speaking in his port-match press conference, Radford said: “Its a similar feeling to last week. We had enough opportunities to win the game. That’s what cost us.
“It was a disappointing start to go 10-0 down, and it was hard to change the momentum of that. We were over the line enough to win the game but we just weren’t clinical enough.”
However, Radford was complimentary of several of his key stars.
“Joe Westerman, Jake Connor and Jamie Shaul were really strong for us tonight.”
Radford continued, ” There were some real fine lines in the game - nothing in it. We could be sat here on four points but we cant start kicking stones. We need to keep the belief that that win will come.
“We’ll get better when we have a full side on the field. Some boys are still getting back to full fitness.”
