Danny Houghton was quick to praise the Hull FC fans for their ongoing support throughout the 2017 campaign.
The Black and Whites’ season ended a couple of weeks ago, narrowly missing out on a place in the Super League Grand Final having been edged out by the champions elect Leeds Rhinos at Headingley Carnegie Stadium.
Houghton, who was named the competition’s top tackler for the third year in a row at the annual Steve Prescott Man of Steel awards recently, says the Hull supporters have had a huge influence this year in the pursuit of winning the Challenge Cup for the second successive year.
“They’re absolutely fantastic our fans,” he told hullfc.com
“They travel in numbers everywhere we go and that level of support is absolutely incredible, especially on a Friday night travelling on the M62. They’re always there to support us.
“They’re not called the 18th Man for no reason and they’ve got us over the line on a few occasions this year and it was great to see so many down at Wembley and I know they will be supporting in huge numbers again next year.”
It’s been two weeks since the dust settled on Hull’s 2017 season, falling short of a first Old Trafford appearance in 11 years.

Having come close in the last two seasons of a Grand Final berth, Houghton feels that will provide the team with motivation heading into 2018 and added he’s looking forward to returning to pre-season after a break.
“It was a bit daunting after Friday seeing how far we’ve come and how close we were to it and now we’ve got to do it all over again next year,” said the 2016 Man of Steel winner.
“It’s something that we’ve got to strive for next year and I’m going to be bouncing into pre-season after a good break and crack on for 2018.”
