The City of Hull Academy conclude their successful regular season campaign with a trip to Huddersfield Giants tomorrow and they will be looking to wrap it up in style.
Jason Netherton’s side are now guaranteed a top four spot and have booked their place in the semi-finals come the end of the regular season this weekend.
Their success comes off the back of an eight-game unbeaten run dating back to the 16th May.
Since then, the young Hull side have thrashed Leeds Rhinos 54-10 at Headingley, beaten rivals Warrington Wolves twice along with victories over London Broncos, Bradford Bulls and their most recent 54-6 victory Newcastle Thunder.
A win for the City of Hull 19s this Saturday would all-but confirm a third-place finish, with a huge points difference advantage meaning that closest competitors Catalans Dragons would have to score in excess of 150 points against bottom of the table Newcastle on Sunday to gain a superior points difference and clinch third.
After finishing in eighth place in 2016, this will be the first time the City of Hull will feature in the semi-finals and a third-place finish would mean a trip to the Mend-A-Hose Jungle to face the Castleford Tigers, whereas a fourth-place finish would result in a semi-final match away at Wigan Warriors.
The Giants sit in 11th place out of 13 teams going into their final match of the season and are currently on a three-game losing streak.
Huddersfield were defeated 22-12 by Castleford last time out, and will be very unlikely to move out of 11th place regardless of the result against the City of Hull side.
The City of Hull will look to make it nine games unbeaten when they take on the Huddersfield Giants this Saturday at 2pm and you can follow live coverage of the match on the City of Hull’s social media feeds - @COHA_RL on Twitter and City of Hull Academy Rugby League on Facebook.
