It is the latest in a number of popular themed match days hosted by the Black and Whites, as the club aim to celebrate and showcase the great working going on in the Hull & District Rugby League and plans to help grow and support the community game in the local area.

Recent activity in the build-up to the game has already seen every member of the first-team squad adopt a local school team and coach their players for a special tournament at Hull FC’s first-team training ground later this month, with the youngsters involved also set to be invited to the round 23 clash against the Giants.

Throughout Community Week itself, hullfc.com will be taking a look at some of the great stories of rugby league in Hull, including some of the fantastic progress being made to restore the region as a thriving hotbed of the sport.

In recent months, Hull has seen a sharp rise in the number of young people playing the game, with over 1,000 children now involved with Primary Rugby League and more than 6,500 taking part in Hull FC’s popular SKYTry initiative.

On top of that, the club can also boast no less than 19 homegrown stars in the current full-time senior squad, many of whom have all come through the system at local community teams.

There will be a special announcement regarding a club tribute to all the local rugby league clubs in the area, whilst on match night itself there will be even more to look forward to.

Representatives of every local junior club in Hull will be celebrated with a special lap of honour at half-time, as well as competing for their club in a special edition of the club’s popular half-time game, ‘Boot It’.

The Challenge Cup holders and Super League Club of the Year will also host a number of local rugby league volunteers for a VIP night in the Circle Restaurant in recognition of their commitment to the sport in Hull, as well as presenting one guest with the inaugural Hull FC Community Clubman of the Year Award, sponsored by The Paint and Body Shop.

Local clubs will nominate those they feel are worthy of the award and these people will also feature in the match day programme and online.

There will be a special edition of the club’s match day programme, ‘The 18th Man’, which will feature interviews with those involved with our local clubs, professional players who have climbed through the ranks in Hull and a feature on the exciting progression of the City of Hull Academy.

It will also be the first chance for fans to read about the club’s encouraging renewed vision for supporting and developing grassroots rugby league in Hull, with the aim of developing fans and Super League stars of the future.

Finally, the match ball for the day will be walked on by some of the longest serving volunteers in rugby league in Hull, alongside club legend and Hull’s most notable rugby league hero, Johnny Whiteley, who also helped establish community club, West Hull.

Tickets are on sale now for the match from the club retail stores or online at ticketing.hullfc.com or by calling 01482 505 600.
