The Black and Whites began their 2017 Betfred Super League campaign in the best possible way with a win over Wakefield.

Lee Radford’s men built up a 6-0 lead through three penalties from Marc Sneyd with Trinity half-back Sam Williams pegging two points back for the hosts.

The home side hit the front in the second half when Scott Grix got a hand to his kick through for a two-point advantage.

However debutant Jake Connor, who replaced Jamie Shaul at full-back, came up with the match-winning try to claim the victory for Hull and get them off the mark.
