Hull FC Reserves winning run continued when they beat a strong Leeds Rhinos 39-18 at Brantingham Park.
Coach Andy Last's team were simply too strong for Leeds in the forwards. They built an effective platform from which the half backs were able to create try scoring opportunities.
For the second week running props, Nathan Freer and Tom Lynch led the way with their powerful running. Man of the Match Liam Reid caused Leeds problems with his incisive running, tackling and support play.
Ryan Steen got through his usual mountain of work in defence. His team mates appreciated his unselfish work in this area. Steen was always in the right place at the right time to make the important tackle.
Hull where the first to score in the 10th minute when a pass from Amar Sabri put Mike Mitchell over and Carl Puckering added the conversion.
Sabri was instrumental in creating Hull's second try when he created the space for Matty Dale to go over in the 18th minute. Puckering again added the conversion.
Leeds retaliated and in their period for sustained pressure Tom Sheldrake scored a try in the 25th minute. Simon Brown added the conversion.
Before half time Hull increased their lead when Kris Peacock scored a try in the 36th minute and with Puckering's goal they led 18-6.
The second half saw Leeds come out in a more determined mood. Hull's defence held firm and they increased their lead in the 46th minute when Mike Burnett powered his way over. Puckering added the conversion.
Leeds pulled themselves back into the game scoring a try through Kashley Watkins in the 53rd minute. Brown created the position kicking a 40/20. Brown added the conversion.
In the 55th minute Brown again kicked a 40/20 giving Leeds field position to score a third try through Danny Lawton. Brown added the conversion.
Hull regained their composure when Puckering kicked a drop goal in the 64th minute. In the 65th minute James Haynes increased Hull's lead, scooting over from acting half.
Liam Cunningham secured victory for Hull scoring two tries in the 71st and 79th minute. Puckering was successful converting one of the tries.
